Rye and I are continuing to put in the work. She is not as cooperative for nail trimmings as previously reported, but we won't give up. She also has diarrhea again. The night before last she woke us up with whining. When I took her to the backyard, it was clear she really had to go and I'm thankful she was able to hold it until then. It's not fun washing out a crate at 3AM. I put her back to bed, but she woke us up again a couple more times. As much as I didn't want her to learn she can just whine us until we let her out, I also don't want to risk her having to be a mess inside her crate. Thankfully no mess, she was just thrilled to be awake. I've put Rye on a fast to see if that helps her reset.
I found a park off old 183 and New Hope that is way back in a neighborhood. It was nice and shaded with several picnic tables but no playground ... just a basketball court seemingly strangely placed in the middle of a huge field. Rye had a great time doing long leash here. She did encounter some bees on the ground, but nothing stung us. This time I also asked my oldest daughter to come spot me. It's been so difficult managing all of Rye's gear and keeping my head on a swivel for other people around. Having her help me was very nice.
Today we did some long leash work on the outskirts of Milburn. There's a Dominos there that has reflective exterior glass panes. Rye was very interested seeing me and herself in the mirror ... I'm not sure what she thought, but it definitely wasn't the aggressive reaction I saw her have in a video seeing a mirror for the first time.
We did see a dog walking in the distance that Rye started barking at. The ground was sloped so it was difficult for me to bundle up her long leash and manage her from barking without tumbling down the hill. I'm starting to think I need to get her to more places to see dogs in the distance (but on flat terrain!) so she can be exposed to that more.
I'm 90% sure Rye now knows if she scratches her neck enough, she can take her eCollar off. It fell off a couple days ago during our long leash work. She's doing a lot more alligator rolls but I'm not sure if that's trying to get her muzzle off or the collar ... could be both. She's probably also itchy and needs a bath. Look at this cheeky jerk.
