First Outing
I'm continuing to subvert Rye's expectations when she sees or does something that normally indicates she is about to do something exciting. If she sees me put on shoes, she remembers that means we're going out! I made sure to take my time getting ready this morning instead of feeding that adrenaline. Putting on her muzzle means she's about to do something potentially really exciting. I had her stay in "place" for a good while instead. I took my time loading up the car with her crate and our tools.
The GoPro was strapped to my shirt and recorded us walking out the door, cycling in the front yard, and getting into the car. Next time I need to angle it more downward.
I can recognize things I'm doing wrong and not catching things in time, but we're both trying! I'm still getting used to manipulating the leash and stims as well as using the commands and positioning Rye. It's still difficult to collar check when Rye is ahead and I've been swinging her around into heel a lot.
We went to the gas station for me to fill up the car while Rye remained in her crate. I then took her to a field near our neighborhood's mailboxes and park. The field itself is pretty boring, but we did see other people walking dogs in the perimeter. I tried to keep us walking, cycling, and working but it was difficult. I apparently didn't record that part :/ Oh well, still getting used to manipulating all the tools I have.
Rye's new "place" has a good view of some of our aquatic pets.
